The Subclass 482 Work Visa is used by businesses to sponsor work candidates from overseas for temporary work. The program allows visa holders to stay in Australia and work for your business for up to four years. Visa holders can also bring family with them to work or study and travel in and out of Australia as often as required.
When sponsoring visa holders, there are a number of obligations and visa conditions your business will need to consider.
Firstly, you’ll need to apply to become an approved sponsor. Once you’ve obtained approval, you’ll then be able to nominate a person to work in Australia as a 482 Visa holder.
As part of your nomination application, you need to prove to the Australian Government that you have been unable to adequately fill the nominated position locally. The applicant you wish to sponsor will need to have the required skills and experience for the position as stipulated by ANZSCO.
In some cases, the visa applicant may be required to undertake a skills assessment and English language test.
Interstaff has helped businesses sponsor visa holders for their business needs for over 30 years. We advise on the requirements for your sponsorship and nomination application and provide ongoing advice to help your business remain compliant with sponsorship obligations and visa conditions.
