HR Professionals and Business Owners are keen to know if it is still possible to engage skilled visa holders for specialised work in Australia at this time. With the Government currently processing both Temporary and Permanent Residence Skilled Visa applications, priority is given to cases classified as ‘Critical Work.’ However, with strict international travel restrictions in place due to COVID-19, Visa Sponsorship Perth matters can be complicated and there are many factors businesses and skilled individuals should consider. This includes:

  • The employee’s eligibility to apply for a Skilled Visa and which option is most suitable;
  • Expected time-frames before the visa applicant can commence work with your business – including the ability to secure flights and Quarantine periods that may apply;
  • Options for Visa Transfers (employing candidates who hold a work visa with another employer);
  • Permanent Residence Visa options for overseas employees already in Australia, including Perth;

Simply contact Interstaff’s Registered Migration Agents for professional advice on a migration strategy that considers all of the visa and sponsorship options available to you at this time. We assist both businesses and skilled overseas employees with all aspects of the visa and sponsorship process.

How can I sponsor an employee to come to Perth? | Visa Sponsorship Perth

By applying for a Sponsorship arrangement with the Department of Home Affairs your business could be granted the ability to engage overseas workers to work in Perth to help meet your labour needs. Legally established and operating businesses can generally apply to become a visa sponsor provided they meet several eligibility requirements, including but not limited to the following:

  • Your business is active and lawful
  • Your business has a genuine need for the position
  • Your business agrees to pay the applicant market salary rates

There are three parts to the employer-sponsored visa application process – Sponsorship, Nomination and a Visa.

A sponsorship application is a request by a business to become an approved visa sponsor. There are two main forms of visa sponsorship in Australia – Standard Business Sponsorship and Accredited Sponsorship. Standard Business Sponsorship provides a five-year period to sponsor workers. Eligible businesses can upgrade their status to Accredited Sponsorship, which provides access to Government priority visa processing. Other forms of sponsorship include Labour Agreements and Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMA’s).

Once a business becomes an approved visa sponsor, it can proceed with the nomination and visa application stages of the process. A nomination application involves an assessment of the position and terms of employment, whereas a visa application is an assessment of a person’s skills and experience.
