The latest statistics on Google search terms such as ‘move to Australia’, ‘visa for Australia’ and ‘visa to Australia’ from within the UK region shows numbers of people looking to move to Australia from the UK have spiked following the Brexit decision to leave the European Union (EU) on Friday 24 June, 2016.
The statistics suggest there is a high level of uncertainty in the UK following the Brexit decision, which may be causing British families and businesses to consider migrating to Australia to explore opportunities for job security and career progression, housing affordability and access to quality health and education.
Western Australian (WA) Premier, Colin Barnett told The Sunday Times newspaper he believes people will be particularly interested in migrating to Western Australia saying, “I expect we will see a significant increase in the numbers of young and qualified Britons wanting to migrate to Australia and start a new life, and I think WA will be the most attractive.”
Mr Barnett said WA already has the highest proportion of people from the UK living in the state compared to Australia’s other states, providing UK migrants a welcoming sense of ‘familiarity’. He also said many would be attracted to the resilience of the WA economy.
